Amber Services
Waste Reduction Policy

Amber Services has been established since 1972.  Whilst our primary business is that of dry waste management and disposal, we have always played an active role in recycling.  We were the first company to introduce bottle banks to South Wales.

At our new Materials Reclamation Facility we have been able to extend our recycling activities.  We now bring all the waste we handle to our site for sorting and segregation into various recycling streams.

We are at the forefront of recycling, and see our methods of operation as pro active in the waste industry.  Where most waste companies simply provide a waste disposal service straight to landfill, we extend our services to separating and sorting the waste in order to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.  We provide total waste management for companies and organisations throughout South Wales, and these companies can be assured that when they employ Amber Services to deal with their waste disposal, they are not simply disposing of their waste, but actively contributing to the reduction of waste to landfill.

The wastes we now re direct away form the typical landfill stream consist of:

  • Wood / Timber / Sawdust
  • All metals
  • Cardboard / Paper / Packaging
  • Glass Cullet
  • Brick / Stone / Inert Waste / Aggregate for secondary use
  • Plastics / UPVC / PVC / Sheeting and Shrink Wrap
  • Cable and Wiring

We are continually investigating and investing in various new methods of processing wastes to aid the recycling process.  Our aim is to continue with our ongoing reduction of waste to landfill.  We are currently achieving a target of approx 85%.  A variety of new waste segregation machinery is currently being tested to evaluate the benefits for our operations.
